Boy's Day!

This post is a throwback to something that happened a few months ago. The lady of the house decided to go home for her birthday weekend in May. So that meant Carter and I would be home alone. I told him that would be what we called our Boy's Day/Weekend and we could do whatever he wanted to do. We were both excited that whole week. To be honest, I think I was more excited than he was. I ran some errands before I picked him up from school that Friday.
Once I picked him up, it was on! We kept chanting, BOY'S DAY BABY!! We went home, wrestled, had a massive pillow fight. We had clothes and toys all over the place. Once we worked up an appetite...I took him to this spot I love to get some brisket. When I tell you, he tore that brisket sandwich ALL THE WAY UP. We watched movies, and I told him he could stay on his Ipad as long as he wanted to. He definitely took me up on that offer.
Of course, I was knee-deep in some beer or something lol. I look up, it's like 11:30 p.m. He was still wide awake. It was time to refill my beer and I said to him "You trying to go get a slushy from the gas station?" Of course, he was like YES!! So here we are getting slushies and beer at like 11:45 at night. I let him sit in my lap once we got to our parking lot, so he could "steer the car." It was so much fun man.
We got home that night, cuddled on the couch, he watched his Ipad, I watched Netflix and Youtube. I ended up nodding off and I happened to wake up around 3 a.m., and buddy was still on his Ipad. I didn't even trip, I let him do his thing, and eventually, he fell asleep.
We talk about that weekend all the time. He always says his favorite part was the brisket, or barbecue as he called it. Of course, he loved to stay up late too. I love the fact that he remembers it and that he asks when we can have another weekend like that. That whole weekend I spent maybe $20. It just goes to show you, that quality time is way more important than the money you spend.
